Rangers defender Bob Malcolm is once again being linked with a move to the Blues. A Town representative is reported to have been impressed when watching the 25-year-old central defender or midfielder in action in a friendly against Clyde on Saturday.
Glasgow-born Malcolm has also been linked with Coventry, Wolves and Dundee United.
Meanwhile, midfielder Darren Currie says he won't let talk of his proposed move to Leeds distract him: "I just want to concentrate on the task in hand. Ipswich have appointed a new manager who is as honest as the day is long.
"We will all know exactly where we will stand with him, and he will keep me informed of any interest from Leeds.”
Elsewhere, Town's hopes of a summer windfall will be dashed if reports of Darren Bent imminently signing a new deal prove to be correct. The Blues would be due 20% of the profit if Bent is sold on by Charlton but the England striker is claimed to be ready to sign a new contract tying him to the Addicks until 2010 and worth £30,000-a-week.
Spurs, Liverpool, Newcastle and Manchester City have all been linked over the summer with Martin Jol's club having had a £10 million bid turned down.
Former Town manager George Burley is reported to want to take Kelvin Davis from Sunderland to Southampton. Last week Burley was linked with a move for Richard Wright but Davis looks a more affordable prospect.
Ex-Town midfielder Antonio Murray is on his way out of Tony Mowbray's Hibernian after failing to make his mark in his 18 months at Easter Road. Murray has made only 15 appearances since his move from Town to Scotland, only one of those last season, and looks likely to join Wycombe Wanderers where he is currently on trial.
Another former Town academy player, striker Craig Reid, is on trial at SPL side Falkirk having been released by Coventry City.
