Magilton: Signing Close - Ipswich Town News
Town boss Jim Magilton says he is close to completing the first signing of his managerial career. The Northern Irishman hopes the new man will be in place by the time the Blues face Lazio on Friday (KO 8pm).
Magilton said: "I am just waiting for a phone call and fingers crossed everything will fall into place. There has been a lot of hustle and bustle and I am very hopeful of getting something done.
"There are other bits and pieces in the pipeline, but for the time being it's one new signing and I think it will be done before we face Lazio."
The player concerned is not believed to be one of those linked in recent weeks.
We understand that one or more trialists may also be at Portman Road by the end of the week and could be involved against Lazio, who have been reinstated in Serie A after an appeal against their original sanction for match-fixing.
