England Goal for Ainsley - Ipswich Town News

Academy schoolboy Jack Ainsley won his first cap and scored his first goal for the England U17s as they beat Sweden 4-2 in their opening game at the Nordic Tournament held in the Faroe Islands. Ainsley came on as a sub in the 54th minute and netted the final goal of the game in injury time.

The Felixstowe-based midfielder's goal completed a dramatic end to the match, England having netted for the third time in the 80th and final minute of normal time with the scores level.

England play a Faroese U19 side on Tuesday and complete their group games with a match against Norway on Thursday. Town striker Jordan Rhodes was also called into the squad for the tournament but broke his collar bone in the reserves friendly at Framlingham and is out of action for two months.

In the other group, new Town academy recruit Viktor Unnar Illugason scored Iceland's fourth goal in a 5-2 victory over Finland.

Meanwhile, central defender Chris Casement was in the starting line-up as the Northern Irish U19s lost 3-1 to Paraguay in their first game in the Elite section of the Milk Cup at Ballymoney. The host nation play Turkey in their final qualifier at Coleraine Showgrounds on Wednesday (KO 7pm).

Town's U15s got off to a good start in the Junior competition, Craig Calver netting a hat-trick as the San Diego Nomads were defeated 3-0. Striker Calver was recruited from Cambridge City's development scheme a year ago.

The youngsters complete the qualifying stage of the tournament with a game against County Tyrone at Castlerock on Tuesday (KO noon).
