Leeds After Supple - Ipswich Town News

Town keeper Shane Supple has been targeted by Championship rivals Leeds United. The Whites are in need of a stopper having allowed Ian Bennett to join Sheffield United.

The Blues are unlikely to want to sell the young Irishman, although a bid above £2 million might prove tempting if it were on offer. The hugely promising 19-year-old signed a contract last year which ties him to Town until 2008.

Leeds' interest in Supple could be connected to the ongoing talks regarding left-back Dan Harding, one of Jim Magilton's main summer targets.

A swap involving Harding and Darren Currie has previously been mooted, but the Whites may well be seeking to involve Supple in any deal for the former England U21 international, with the Blues also receiving cash.

Yesterday, chief executive Derek Bowden said that the Blues had turned down four bids for players with an offer for Supple reported to be amongst them.

Meanwhile, boss Jim Magilton has confirmed that the Blues offered a three-year deal to former full-back Jamie Clapham, who joined Wolves on a two-year contract yesterday.

Clapham is joined at Wolves by former Town trialist Alexis Bertin, who is looking to win a contract at Molineux.
