Harding In, Westy Out! - Ipswich Town News

Town have agreed terms with Leeds United for left-back Dan Harding with Ian Westlake the man heading in the opposite direction. Harding has been linked with a move to the Blues for the last month with Leeds reported to be keen on a swap for a Town player on a number of occasions.

In addition to the 22-year-old ex-Brighton player, the Blues are set to receive cash likely to be in the low hundred thousands for the former academy player's services.

Westlake made 125 appearances and scored 17 goals for the Blues after emerging from the academy in the same year group as Darren Bent and Darren Ambrose.

Capped four times at England U21 international level, Harding joined Leeds, the club he supported as a boy, from Brighton and Hove Albion a year ago for a tribunal set initial fee of £450,000 which could have risen to £850,000 depending on appearances and other clauses.

Harding made his senior debut for Brighton against Norwich in August 2002 having progressed through the Seagulls' youth system. The 6ft tall defender, who was brought up in Sussex, made 76 appearances for the Withdean Stadium club, scoring his only career goal. The Gloucester-born player made 21 appearances in his only season at Leeds.
