Boss Jim Magilton's Premiership striker target is former Canary Chris Sutton. The 33-year-old left Birmingham at the end of last season and is moving back to East Anglia.
Magilton said: "We may well do something, but Chris is having a scan on a groin problem and it might be that we could do a pay-as-you-play deal.
"I think we have to be interested in Chris. Who wouldn't? He is moving back to the area and we'll see how things go."
Since leaving Norwich in 1994 Sutton has played for Sutton has played for Blackburn Rovers, Chelsea, Celtic and Birmingham City, and was capped once by England.
