Parkin to Coventry? - Ipswich Town News

Striker Sam Parkin is reported to be a Coventry target according to various reports this morning. The Sky Blues are claimed to have had a £100,000 bid turned down locally, while a national paper says they are ready to offer £250,000 for the former Swindon man.

Parkin, who joined the Blues for £450,000 last summer, was left out of the Town squad on Saturday, apparently at the behest of Micky Adams's club.

The reported bid of £100,000, rising to £200,000 on appearances and other top-ups, was turned down by the Blues last week, but the clubs continue to talk and a further bid is expected, with the £250,000 reported elsewhere likely to be nearer Town's valuation.

Parkin has had a difficult time with the Blues since joining on a four-year contract in June 2005 and looks to be some way from Jim Magilton's first team.

Town could have new season-long loanee Mark Noble in the squad which takes on Wolves at Molineux on Tuesday. The England U19 international has been away with West Ham in Greece and Jim Magilton is hopeful he can tie-up the loose ends of the deal today.

Chris Sutton's pay-as-you-play demands are variously reported to be £10,000 and £25,000 per match.
