Kits. 12:09 - Jan 15 with 1238 viewsfabian_illness

Just a conversation me and the Mrs had whilst watching match of the day.
It was Watford v Middlesborough.
I thought all clubs wore their standard kit unless they clashed with the home side?
When did it start that a club could wear whatever kit they fancied on the day?

I guess it's a great revenue stream to release as many kits as you can, but I didn't know you could swap at will.

Unfortunately, you can & the sad trend is that many clubs now choose to wear their "away" kit whenever possible. I can see that for a club with a big fan base, regularly wearing the "away" kit might make a meaningful impact on sales, but outside the big boys, I'm sure it makes little difference. I want to see Town wearing our traditional blue & white unless there is a colour clash. The same goes for the away team. If Blackpool, for example, come to PR & wear some hideous away kit rather than their traditional & unusual tangerine shirts, I feel that the game loses something.
