Train advice please 13:50 - Feb 4 with 702 viewsKingston

Next Friday I will have a day travelcard from Brighton to get up for a course and back down, except that I'm leaving from London to head straight to Ashford in Kent.

The single ticket to Ashford is £30, and I'd rather not fork that out. What I'm thinking, is that I can get through the barriers at Kings Cross with my day travelcard, and then just buy a ticket from anywhere to Ashford (wherever is cheapest) so I can get through the barriers at the other side.

What are people's thoughts? Obviously I'm assuming that they don't check tickets on the train, as is the case with many others.

Thanks in advance

As long as they don't check tickets you're good. And if they do just buy a ticket from whatever the last station was from the conductor.

King's Cross ? Think you need St Pancras for Ashford on the high speed service. They do ticket checks on that service when I've travelled.
