Ipswich are still the last 'Town' team to play in the English top division. Huddersfield could change that if they get promoted

Meaningless but surprised me so thought I'd share...

I think that also probably means that we were the last 'Town' to win it too.
Just trying to think of Towns that have been in the top division in the last 50 odd years and only come up with Northampton,Luton and Swindon.

edit-and Huddersfield.

Am I right in saying that Northampton then suffered consecutive relegations back to Division 4?

Not quite.
On checking my 'English Football League Tables' in my library I find that Northampton were promoted to top division as Division 2 runners up in 1964/65,went back down in 1965/66 and then straight through Division 2 in 1966/67.Finished four places clear of relegation in 1967/68 but went down to Division 4 in 1968/69.

We are the only British club that don't have city status to win a European trophy.

Three book cases but that is not enough to house all of my books.
