Rubbish stat I've seen today 13:31 - Mar 28 with 1369 views | C_HealyIsAPleasure | Ipswich are still the last 'Town' team to play in the English top division. Huddersfield could change that if they get promoted Meaningless but surprised me so thought I'd share...

Our 'friends' up the road would be sticking something like that in their honours list...

Just trying to think of Towns that have been in the top division in the last 50 odd years and only come up with Northampton,Luton and Swindon. edit-and Huddersfield. [Post edited 28 Mar 2017 14:02]

Am I right in saying that Northampton then suffered consecutive relegations back to Division 4?

Not quite. On checking my 'English Football League Tables' in my library I find that Northampton were promoted to top division as Division 2 runners up in 1964/65,went back down in 1965/66 and then straight through Division 2 in 1966/67.Finished four places clear of relegation in 1967/68 but went down to Division 4 in 1968/69.
