Good or bad news? 18:09 - May 6 with 1618 viewsfinzha

Have to drag myself along to my nephew's christening tomorrow, missing the game. Blessing in disguise?

Pretty sure that any blessings given at a christening will be pretty out in the open...

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Christenings are optional in my eyes.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

i didn't realise such things still happened

bit outdated

hypocritical unless the family involved are regular church goers

I don't disagree but if people want to invite you along it's really awkward. Usually 2 hours on a Sunday morning that could be better spent doing virtually anything else, in my eyes.

funerals and weddings are no different

why would you want to do either of them in a church if you weren't regular church going people ?

Do people do this very often. I've only been to a couple of church weddings over the years and they were where one of those involved partake in a bit of Sunday god action.

I've been to very few christenings, hardly anyone I know has had that done.

The last funeral i went to the lady wasnt religous at all,so they just gave a little talk about her life,no hymns or prayers,a few of her fav songs we played and that was it.

It started at 10am we were back in the Plough by 10.30 .

Thank you and good night.

Actually that's true, I've only ever done one non religious send off. Suspect that will be very different in 20 or 30 years.

a good friend of mine died a few years ago, his send off was great
half hour in the crem
no singing or praying
his brother done the whole gig
a tribute to my friends life
then a proper p1ss up, paid for by my buddy
he was a top bloke

on the other hand, apparently when you die, it is the path that god has chosen for you
which is a bit harsh on kids etc that die young
not a great god imo
