I've tried cancelling a payment the day before in the past (my rent went up and I forgot to change the standing order). It wouldn't let me do it as it was too close to the payment date. I had to send them the extra money separately and then set up a new standing order.
I presume this is the same with all banks but I don't know. | |

They have already requested the 1st payment (will come out tomorrow first thing)
Edit: this is from my bank:
"You'll need to let us know before 5:.30pm at least one working day before the payment is due to leave your account."

Direct Debit - The Company claiming the payment set up and determine the amount.
