Kundai Benyu - Thanks 14:43 - May 8 with 3043 viewsstevieshot

Hi I'm an Aldershot fan in peace.
I would just like to thank Ipswich Town & Mick McCarthy, for loaning Kundai to us.
Kundai has done something quite unique at the Shots since he arrived.
He has bought the joy back to football, not only for the fans, but his team mates as well.
He is a very talented player, who makes the game look easy, with a smile on his face.
He has single handedly picked our team up, and pushed us into the play-offs.
It would be unbelievable if you could loan him to us again for next season, but I
believe he is destined for bigger and better things.
I hope that is with you, as going to a bigger club may lose him in the system.
Again Thank You

We were terrified that you'd go up as we probably wouldn't be able to compete with you financially.

Truly impaired.

Cheers, We won't get to see him as he's off to the Lane.

A really nice message much appreciated. I don't think you'll get him back, next season. With luck he may be pushing for a place in our first team; either that or getting some playing time in L1 or L2.

Good luck to your lot next season; perhaps you can go a step or two further than this time around...

Thanks. That was one helluva tackle he made last Wednesday when he got injured.

"I hope that is with you, as going to a bigger club may lose him in the system" =- do you mean we are not bigger than Aldershot

In all fairness, you do seem to be trying to play football as it should be through the middle. Sadly, we do not. I am fearful for KB as MM's hoof ball "system" will probably ruin him (as he seems to do with all other talented youngsters).

Good luck for next season

Thanks, pal - good to hear. Not sure a talented player with a smile on his face is likely to be a favourite of our manager, somehow.
It seems like he had a stinker in the first leg of the play off game & wasn't even in the squad for the 2nd leg - hmm...
Sounds like he should be stepping up to league 1 or 2 next season.

It's refreshing to read a loanee of ours has actually done well tbh.

Really nice message and good to hear.

Whilst you're here, do you have any strikers in your reserve team who could lead the line for us next season? We have a budget of around the cost of a brand new Kia Ceed...

He was nowhere near as bad as the report says. The shots head's went down after they conceded after 2mins and it was a case of chasing the game from there on. He was trying to move into space and some of his passes went astray in difficult conditions. He did link up quite nicely with the on loan watford man who name escapes me.
Also Benyu went off with an injury around the hour mark after injury himself in a crunching tackle so that is why presumably he wasn't involved in the second leg.

I hope this is the start of a regular partnership. Do you guys need a young striker next year- we have one who needs to play adult football.

A terrific season for The Shots all round. All the best for next season.

Ps....Aldershot are my second team and considerably more local than Ipswich.

Thanks for all your comments, if we had a striker, we would have been promoted.
Against Tranmere 1st leg, they set out to intimidate our younger players.
So Kundai, Idris Kanu & Bernard Mensah ( ours signed from Watford ) took a lot of
physical abuse, they stopped our quick passing, by leaving a boot/ elbow in. Which is why
Kundai went off on the hour, and couldnt make the second leg.
It's a mans game, and these players will have to learn to deal with the physicality.
Good luck in the future, and if you have any more gems that need polishing, you know
where we are.

We've got two who need to play non-league, although one of 'em's only on loan from Reading.

Do they need a 60ft camera mount? Only Kieffer's gonna need some game time.

Jack Marriot did alright on loan and that ended well :p

Jordan Rhodes did okay in his few loan outings, his moved to Huddersfield should have been a loan really, Hmmmmmmmm

Who else has done well on loan?

The group of England U18's coming through look like the best batch of youngsters since Bent, Ambrose, Westlake and Richards imho

Garvan, Haynes, Clarke, Trotter and Supple weren't bad either

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!
