JC has done incredibly well to get that level of increase in support. He also ran a far better campaign that the truly awful May (who I think should go now). However he did promise a lot of things I don't believe he can realistically provide.
So he's definitely due some credit.
I think the main point is that now we are in an awful position. Neither side can form a government and that's a horrible position to be in when we are looking to get things done on Brexit and other matters. Either a Tory or Labour majority government would have been a better outcome for the country in my opinion.
