So lack of funding has prevented people from giving a free service to save people lives.

Welcome to Britain. What a shambles we are.

And whenever you went to the days, they were absolutely packed. Rammed full of local people. Chances of them now driving (or being able to drive) 10 miles rather than wandering down the street for a natter with their neighbours while doing something heroic?

I drink and smoke green a lot so there will be a lot of that kicking around in my bloodstream, it's probably 5% proof. I'd be worried that it anybody got a shot of that it may well finish them off.

I've done it since I was 17 every 6 months originally now every 4 months. I've just turned 43, at the risk of getting all political it seems to have all its funding cut.

Am on regular medication so they won't let me, which I really regret, as I'm the rarest of all blood groups. Well done to those who do tho

I'll hit my 50th donation this year, hopefully in the SBR suite where I'm donating in a couple of weeks. It's a simple, pain free process these days, your hour is basically 20 mins waiting, 15 minutes donating, and 15 minutes 'recovery' time, i.e., get as many snacks down you as you want! So much blood is needed everyday, it really is essential that as many people do this as possible. The biggest 'hassle' is finding a place to donate that is local. I've been all over Town, so getting to places takes as long as the donation sometimes. Just do it please!!!

Two pages! That's almost an arm...

Done well over 25 but recently medication and living remote have slowed my donation rate, and being O+ I've never had a text saying that my blood has been used to save someone's life - wouldn't even mind if I got a text saying it had been used to make black pudding now.

You only get a text to say that it has been given to a particular hospital not one that says it has been given to a person. They send one every time

Is this a recent thing? Not even sure if I was asked for a mobile number last time I donated.

Have noticed that there is a session on 5th July near me thanks to you starting this thread, good one.

Yes it started a couple of years ago.

I always aim to introduce or re-introduce 1 person per year so thank you for being that person

Plus, the beauty of giving blood in Norfolk is that you're likely to be a match for 100% of the population.

I'm pretty sure Needham is in Suffolk so your attempt at Humour fell on it's arse a bit there.

Just had an email letting me know I have an appointment for two thirty (yeah I've also had the dental check up reminder today) Wednesday week so you can firm up the tick in that box (as long as I remember to turn up and am actually fit enough to donate).

I have in the past, but haven't for a while because of getting tattoos.

I have been meaning to sign up again, so thanks for the prompt.

Mission accomplished - didn't ask me for a mobile number but perhaps that bit is yet to reach the Inner Hebrides. One thing that has changed is that the drop of blood before you donate is no longer pipetted into a test tube but is now smeared on a slide and slipped into an iron detecting monitor - interesting to know what the iron count in your blood is.

And I got a nice double heart badge with my blood group on it for coming back into the fold.

Ditto. I was quite upset that I couldn't donate any longer.
