Ed Sheeran at Glastonbury on 23:35 - Jun 25 by TIB
Played a few shows with him back in the day...just a genuinely nice guy who loves music and no one can knock him for his success, he's done it the hard way.
As for the set tonight...I can see why people might struggle with it, but for a solo musician to entertain for that length of time in a setting of that magnitude is quite the ask. He stuck to his roots and ran with the loop pedal...and when you are just a genuinely nice guy who doesn't have an ounce of c**t or cockiness in you...you may well come across slightly bland at times in a set...being solo as well, you have no other musicians to play off either.
Fair play to him, he did what he does best in what will probably be the pinnacle of his career. I did read that he does wish to create a record and tour using a full band at some point, so who knows, maybe his next Glasto appearance will encompass such things.

That's a really refreshing post and I thank you for it. People had been coming out with some really invalid points. Thanks.

I used to be a big fan and he is clearly talented. However, whilst his songs are nice in small doses, not sure I'd pay big money to watch an hour and a half of his stuff.
Quite. Just been watching/listening. Just don't see what's so special.
I had a little bet with myself as to how long it would be before someone came along pointlessly having a pop. To be fair I was 45 minutes out.
As has been mentioned a number of times, I think it's an awful shame that people feel it necessary to criticise someone of such incredible talent, regardless of your taste in music.
I think he is fantastic, but to be honest, I think tonight it was too much, the audience and the expectation swallowed him up. As much as he gave out it kinda vanished into the void, like shouting into a bottomless pit and waiting for the echo. By comparrison, Foo Fighters seemed to feed off the audience and the occasion, the more they gave the more they got back. I honestly think they could have done another 2 hours or more, whereas Ed Sheeran sort of came to its own natural end, and nobody complained. FWIW, I love the idea of him coming back with a full band, it feels like a logical next step.

I did, went to his warm up show at the O2 on Thursday and I must say it was one of the best gigs I have been to. The talent and the noise he can create from a guitar and a loop pedal is pretty amazing.
Put 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown on Channel 4 then son. If you're asking where the backing singers are you clearly don't appreciate what's going on.
Thats the problem with morons having a vote m8. Wheres tbe backing singers!!!!
