Taken together they are interesting, we all know why local papers have declined - the internet, loss of advertising, obsession with clickbait and hits rather than quality - but I think there is something in the case that without them we are all a bit worse off.

It's not that there is an easy answer to unless people decide they want to pay for it of course.
