Currently reading this, fantastic book. I would like to hear from any of you progressives who think it is possible to dismantle the arguments made about Immigration, I won't be holding my breath.

For anybody with an interest in where this country/continent is going I would suggest reading this book.

Others seem to love it.

I might give it a read and get back to you but it's hardly the definitive word when there's so much criticism for many of his claims and their lack of sources.

What is your next suggestion for the TWTD book club? Enemy of the State, perhaps? Maybe 'The Purple Revolution'?

No one really reads MK do they? It's drivel even if you ignore the meaning of the words. Makes J.K Rowlings tosh seem readable. Not that she's as bad as Hitler morally of course. Just literary speaking.

Does it discuss the fact that migration has been happening for as long as there have been people? Does it assert that, without migration from Africa, there would be no people in Europe to claim it as 'theirs'?

It probably ignores a lot of things like how much British commerce is owned or controlled by Muslims or Muslim countries?
e.g. how serious would it be to Newmarket if the Arab money left?

Sorry, but 'theirs' - not sure if a possessive apostrophe applies in this case so please do not take that as definitive.

I'll have a look at the book.

I've just finished "Adults in the Room"

There is a strong argument that Europe as sold to the general public, is Emperor's New Clothes.

Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me. Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing. Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial. Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid. Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

Sold by who? The EU? Or the criminal scapegoating of Europe (including downright lies) by our politicians and media over the past 30 years or so?

Strange that the 'review' doesn't use any quotes from the book for its strong claims of xenophobia and racism.

You make a very good point.
Our right wing politicians & their outriders are very good at telling lies about Europe.
We lack a media that deals with facts

I don't think a xenophobic and racist book would get very far if there were actual xenophobic and racist quotes in it.

Most of these xenophobes and racists are a bit more subtle.
