Pitman to Pompey... 09:37 - Jul 13 with 10790 views | itfcjoe | ...sure I called that the other week. He'll have to take a pay cut but was apparently very home sick at times. Not surprised he has to drop down to league 1 either

I expect he'd go and bag 20 goals next season for them.. Cue the blubfest on here for selling a proven goalscorer
Pitman to Pompey... on 09:41 - Jul 13 with 6760 views | ElderGrizzly | I expect we'll be paying a significant portion of his wages if he does drop down? I look forward to the updates from certain board members and on Twitter whenever he scores. L1 goals don't count of course... Assume this means we are close to adding another striker too.

I hope we don't have to give him a pay-off, but bet we will. Decent player but always seemed more effective from the bench than as a starter.

Why on earth should we pay his wages? If he signs a contract at another club whilst still under contract at ITFC then we shouldn't pay him a penny. [Post edited 13 Jul 2017 9:44]

It must have been an obvious move if we both had thought it, or maybe I read yours - who knows! Championship is too physical for him , whoever he plays for - can see why him and Bru were the 2 players free to leave as neither up to this level on that side of the game

Portsmouth have got a fair bit of money to spend as still get the big crowds so hopefully it isn't anything too substantial - guess depends on length of deal he is signing there

Because that's not how it works in football sadly and happens all the time. We are effectively forcing him out, telling him he needs to find another club. He can sit here and pick up his £10k a week, or move to Pompey and pick up probably half that. Situations like this, we tend to pay off the player which is effectively in lieu of the wages he would have earned here.

The fact that Bru was never up to playing a full 90 after being here for 3 years is frankly embarrassing, for him & our fitness staff.

....generally just too scruffy to play at a higher level. Anyone that does his warm up with his trackie top tied around his waist has some serious problems.

Indeed. A three year deal there (given he's only 29) should be realistic and should limit our exposure. More importantly, I hope this means we have one close to coming in to replace him? Now just 3 senior strikers at the club.

Still 4 weeks away until the season starts, so might not have someone 'close' to joining as such.

Close for us anyway. Phil needs time to go through about seven stages of imminent first :o)

I like the look of that Bodvarsson. I've heard if he was to come here it would as one of our top earners, so shifting Pitman might help in that regard. Ha, if it ever gets to imminent, we can assume the deal is off!

It's not a full pay off - but why should he give up the earnings he has signed a contract for? It wouldn't be paid off in full - and sometimes it's done over longer periods of time

I'd imagine we must be close to someone, hopefully something before Tuesday's game at Peterborough....

I don't understand how people get homesick in the UK - same with Jon Walters when he wanted to get back up to north West. It's such a small country. Hopefully it frees up funds for the Icelandic fella as like look of him, longer summer goes on more likely it is we keep Bart....

Bart will be this season's Murphy. Sold at the last knockings and we muddle on with a far poorer alternative. Bookmark this.
