Other than the obvious top 5-10, I like the look of Leishman 50's, Cabrera-Bello 66/1, Kuchar 66/1.

I always have decent e/w bets on five homegrown players in all the majors and am a bit up over the years.

The best single wins were Rosie and Willets. I always bet on Justin Rose as he is up there amongst the best on most big occasions. Danny Willets was a quickly rising star, but he seems to have waned since his win. I believe he had an injury.

Lee Westwood has possibly gained me most winnings though because although he has never won a major he has figured highly in quite a few.

This year e/w is ten places which is a very good lure.

Apart from Rose and Tommy Fleetwood I think I might have a bit on Patrick Reed from the US this time as an exception to my norm. He has the play for links courses and is a very likely top tenner if not better.

Tommy Fleetwood is our latest rising star and seems cool enough to eventually win a major if he keeps it up.

Casey has come back to the fore in recent years and I'll put a few quid on Poulter without much hope of a return. He always fades when promising better.

Is it worth sticking with Lee Westwood again I ask myself?

Soren Keldson is over priced 175-1. Good straight hitter, good lynx player and bang in form too. 18-1 top 10 is a steal.

Out of the favs I can't see past Garcia 20-1 ew who is never out of top 5 in this event.

would like to see an English winner, not much value in Fleetwood or Rose now but chances are good.

Forgot about Shinkwin he was excellent last week and should have won it.

He was very naive at the last par five when he went for the flag rather than just be safely on the green. Nervy put though.

His caddy should have advised him better.

In form clearly, up and coming clearly, good e/w then

Not a massive golf fan, but I always have a few bets on the Open just to keep me interested.

Gone for £5 each way on these long shots, who appear to be in good form and did well in the Irish and Scottish Opens recently (both played on links courses)

Ryan Fox 200/1
Richie Ramsay 250/1
Andrew Dodt 300/1

Poulter and Rose early leaders.

I notice Beef and John Daly are side by side on the practise ground, but there are no reports of subsidence in the area yet.

If they are paired together then there's a distinct liklihood that they will have to walk down some of those narrow fairways in single file.
