Have to say, I quite like him, he looks like what I imagine Adrian Mole would look like these days.

Move over Theresa.

Ignore all the policy stuff, shhhh..

Yeah, he's a right wing version of Corbyn. It's amazing watching people who criticise Corbyn tripping over themselves to say how great he is.

It's quite incredible really how so few seem to have learnt nothing from their adulation of Boris Johnson.

Define why he is elitest?

Are you confusing being wealthy with being elitest?

Sounds like he is honest and says what he thinks.... perish the though.

Your first point about belittling his constituency..... I'm not sure how stating a fact was belittling his constituency.

Im not saying he should be the next leader, but it seems a lot of people dont like him based on stereotypes and prejudice.

"Sounds like he is honest and says what he thinks" - as a general point, I'm still not sure why people think this excuses what people say or means there can be no argument against it. "So what if he's out of touch with modern society and thinks gay people shouldn't be married? At least he's honest about it."

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

What is your workhouse like OR are you just bleeding the taxpayer dry while you submit invoices for substandard workmanship ?

I would say touring a working class constituency in a Merc is hardly being supportive and demonstrating his empathy with their living conditions and concerns?

I accept elitist was the wrong terminology, but how anyone can think he has any idea what it's like living in the real world is beyond me. Yes he does seem to say what he thinks, but then again so did Stalin and I am not sure I would want him running my country.

People are insane. People have literally gone mad. The world has gone mad, you are all crazy. You like a religious fundamentalist climate change denier foreign interventionist homophobe Papist and want him to be Prime Minister because I dunno, it would be a laugh or something.
Drop me out.

Would you seriously want a man ....

Who opening belittled the constituency members of his first (failed) attempt to be elected by stating he didn't tour the constituency in a Bently...it was a Merc?

Who filibusters to block bills he is not in favour of, even calling for Somerset to have its own time zone (15 mins behind London).

Who called for UKIP and the Tory's to merge as most conservative members would prefer Nigel Farage over Nick Clegg.

Who describe £250000 spent on portraits of MP's as 'chicken feed'.

Who opposes same sex marriages.

Who supported Trump.

The man stands for everything that is wrong in British politics. He is elitist and firmly part of the establishment. We pay his wages and he makes a mockery of the political process. Yes he is good value on Have I Got News For You, but I would not want him representing me or my country.

So in summary...no I'm not a fan :)

He is widely respected across all of the opposition parties. Even Mahri Black nominated him for Chair of the Treasury select committee and says he is the person she most admires in the HOC.

I think you spelt 'laughed at and despised' incorrectly. Because I can assure you that among a considerable majority of MPs that is the case.

Genuine question;

Do you believe that someone that would describe an area such as Clacton as

'a seaside town packed full of ill educated crackpots, yahoos and social misfits remains to be seen'

is fit to be a leader of your party?

Poll: Hypothetically, we have £1M for January. What would you rather?

"Whether UKIP itself will be able to achieve momentum beyond a seaside town packed full of ill educated crackpots, yahoos and social misfits remains to be seen"

Makes more sense if you put the full quote in and interested to know how you'd describe somewhere with more than 70% leave vote. I bet it wouldn't be in much better terms.

Still doesn't mean he should be leader though of course.

1. It isn't my party.

2. I have never said he should lead the party. I said he is widely respected across the benches.

3. Having returned to Clacton on regular visits since living there between 1974 and 1990, he is spot on.

So the speccie made up the quote from Mahri Black then? She also didn't nominate him for chair of the treasury select committee?

And didn't you use an article front he speecie by Nick Robinson to back up your argument recently freddo?

Why do you need to resort to insults when you are losing?

You know as well as i do the tories have, not for a long while, made polcies the main issue & have pushed personalities.

& the Spectator is NOT neutral - is it?

I think the Corbyn comparison only goes so far. There is a big gulf for example in their intellectual capacities.
