Starting Saturday I am a week with the family in a caravan at California Sands 20:32 - Jul 25 with 7669 viewsdusseldorf_blue

Weather forecast isn't so great any suggestions for things to do in the Great Yarmouth area with the family, daughter is 9, that do not require good weather?
Cheers

Well, you've got the amusements, daily fun sessions at the Marina Centre swimming pool and the SeaLife centre. Your daughter will probably love somewhere like Thrigby Hall or Bewilderwood (bit of a drive), but they're both outside, so good weather would be better.

I suppose a day trip to Noj with shopping in Chapelfields is another option if you're really stuck.

Best just to come prepared for bad weather and hope the forecasts are wrong - as they seem to have been here lately!

Yarmouth is far nicer than Blackpool.Plenty of arcades and not forgetting the pleasure beach. There is a sealife centre and a decent indoor pool along the front.Pleasurewood Hills is just down the road in Lowestoft.
Burgh Castle (Roman ruin) near Belton is worth a visit. It is free and overlooks the Broads.Funnily enough there is an excellent pub/eatery next door.
There are local guide leaflets which include coupons of local attractions. Away from Yarmouth the countryside is beautiful (North Norfolk especially).
Enjoy.

Investigate Geocaching. Great for kids, zero cost and will take up hours of your time.

I would suggest you all drive as far away from Yarmouth as quickly as you can. And seek medical advice.

I live a couple of miles from California Sands, its great great for me and my 2 kids ( age 8 and 9)being blue in a land of budgies. (They are all quiet at the mo!)

Anyway some indoor ideas for you, Burgh Hall , we go there most fridays, about fifteen mins drive, has an indoor play area, quite a big one, bar , swimming pool, does good food and a carvery on sunday, also usually music during the summer holidays , its has its own campsite but does functions and is open to all.

Also as someone else has said Marina centre for a bigger swimming pool, Retroskate , roller skating which my daughter loves, Laserquest , Bewilderwood about 30mins away is excellent , massive fun for that age group. Good pub near to that is the New inn at Horning which has arcade and is right next to the Norfolk Broads.

Loads of arcades too and Jump warehouse for trampolining near the pleasure beach.
Hope that helps, but surely you are not coming all the way from Dusseldorf???!!!

Am indeed coming from Düsseldorf, family lives in colchester and my wife, German, wanted to experience an old skool/retro English holiday! What could be better than one week in a caravan!

Also nicely coincides with the first game of the season which I will also be attending!

I was in Gt yarmouth last week & went to the Pleasure Beach.
All more than a bit run down, depressing as I remember what it was like in GY in the 50's, 60's & 70's

Me and mine love to stay just up the coast from there in Winterton on Sea - lovely area and laods for kids.

Winterton has lovely dunes and pub
Hemsby's not easy on the eye, but loads of stuff there - for the young kids there's a soft play centre right near the beach
Martham or Potter Heigham for day boat hire on the broads (martham if you want a sailing boat). Top tip if you fancy this is the river ant or north up the thurne from potter - both very pretty.
There's a lovely guided boat trip / come nature trail at Horsey Meer - lasts an hour so not too long for nippers.
Or north norfolk for all the coastal towns like blakeney / cley / wells
Also, not sure if anyone's mentioned the pleasure beach in yarmouth yet, but the rollocaoster is terrifying in a 'will it all fall down' way.
Also Yarmouth market and surround's good for a charity shop trawl!

Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

The trick is to see past all that stuff. The port is amazing in a boaty / nerdy way. There's also a place called Elizabethian House where someone was meant to have plotted to kill a king.

I was up that way recently

You've got a model railway and miniature world in Wroxham which is worth going to but maybe not justifying a trip there on it's own - plus a nice smoky grill restaurant at train station

I'm no expert on this but can you hire a boat and drive it down the broads into Norwich or park it up next to a pub in the country??

You could do that, but from Yarmouth way, you'd have to sleep on it, journey time wise, to get to Norwich.

Yes what a sad response the type of response you expect from the huge swathe of champagne socialists like the vile Emily Thornberry...who can afford to holiday in st tropaz

GY may not be Islington or Westminster ot Bali but its full of decent people trying to make a decent living in the very tough tourist industry and it happens to have some very nice areas both in the town and the surrounding villages....

These are good for keeping the kids entertained. Only £7 a treasure map/murder mystery. As a family you solve clues and it helps you to discover the nicer parts of new places.

This is a must. Would be ok on a blustery/spitting with rain day if all cagouled up. I used to love being allowed a turn driving the boat when I was Dusseldorf's daughter's age.

Arcade and beach at Sea Palling, plus if you get in to trouble in the water you can be rescued by Steve Ignorant who used to be in Crass ! Also when it's not raining Hemsby has this...
