Great 'lost' albums of our time. on 19:17 - Jul 27 by GlasgowBlue
Of course the actual great lost Kinks album is The Village Green Preservation Society which sold very poorly at the time and is now a cult classic.
I remember waiting for that to be released and the release date kept changing. It did not sell well, not many Kinks Albums did, but it certainly is a classic.
The actual 'Great Lost Kinks Album' was only available on import I believe-I think I purchased it from a record shop on Tottenham Court Road on a day out in The Big Black Smoke(Kinks track for anyone that does not know).

In a similar vein
On a related note. I saw members of Fleet Foxes, Grizzly Bear, The Walkmen and Beach House perform the whole album a few years ago and it was incredible.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun.
I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

I spent years IMAGINING what that album sounded like on the basis of a Melody Maker 'great lost albums' feature. It actually sounded better than the songs in my head.
I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.
