Morning all. I've had a message this morning from Freddies_ears with an idea...
How about we design a big get-well card for Andre from all on TWTD? I've been asked if I could do a design for the front, then we can collect messages from anyone that wants to send a message of encouragement here on twtd and then if we set a deadline to contribute by (I don't know when best, given people are on holidays etc - shall we say by the end of August, or sooner? - open to suggestions on that, Phil?).
I could then go into this thread to collate them all, to copy and paste into the get well card to get it printed up to send to Andre. It could be very, very big (or over a few pages if the number of wishes leant more towards a booklet than a card), and just might give him a little lift?
I think it's a good idea, and happy to sort it out.
It will be helpful if people could include the name they want to be associated with the message (either posting name, or actual name as some have done - doesn't matter either way) within the message area please, as it will make it easier for cutting and pasting. Thanks!
Phil/Gav, would you mind stickying this (and perhaps letting those that usually just go on the News Comments without coming on the forum know about it as well so that they can contribute as well)?

Absolutely gutted to hear about your injury on Saturday and even more devastated to learn that it was bad enough to keep you out for the whole season.

Dear Andre,
I'm coming back in off an injury that ended my season last year. Obviously not at even close to the same level as you but hopefully I can relate in a small way.
You already know that the next 9 months are going to suck. The thing you'll always, always need to remember is that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. 'only a season' sounds like for ever. It's not though, I promise. It goes by. Focus on your recovery and you can easily have many great seasons to come.
Im sure you'll have seen a similar list but here are a few top players who have recovered from cruciate injuries:
Ruud Van Nistelrooy
Alan Shearer
Francesco Totti
Mikel Arteta
Nemanja Vidic
There is no reason you can't be added to that list.

This might seem difficult to believe, but look at this as a blessing. I've been there myself when injury/illness has stopped me from doing something i had longed to do. Spend the next 9 months focusing on all the aspects of your game you could improve on. Don't try and rush yourself back for potential play-off games, tempting as it will be. Your focus now is having additional preparation and an extra-long preseason ready to tear up the Championship in 2018/2019. So what if this means it takes a little longer for your first England Cap?
