GCSE results day... 10:00 - Aug 24 with 2533 viewshoppy

All the best to anyone with an interest in them, whether picking them up yourselves, or with kids/grandchildren picking them up. Hope you/they get what they were hoping for and worked hard towards.

No doubt the daily mail will be pushing lots of images of girls jumping in the air shortly.

Just got mine and I passed them all, and with extra exams we took, I got the equivalent of 13 GCSEs!

My interest in them is from the 'other side' as a teacher, and as ever the results reflect the work that students and teachers put in to them. Those students who made the effort got the results. Ours were up again this year, so lots of smiley faces here!

Likewise my son whose school is not far from where you live.

Looking after my grandchildren while he is there with his pupils. .

Good luck to teachers and pupils.

I have the same interest and having moved schools this year the pressure was on more than in previous years. Particularly as I inherited an under performing department.
Pleased to say we saw a lovely increase though, our A*/A went up by 26%, A*-C up 24% and our students achieving their target grade went up 22% too which reflects their efforts this year.

I hope anyone in a similar position also has a good day, as well as those collecting their results.

According to what I just heard the maths test was so difficult the pass was set at only 15% correct.
& they now ignore corse work
Th UK education system is not fit for purpose, it is now fully politicised.

Indeed, GCSEs were only introduced because the standard of education was dropping so fast that children were unable to pass the rigour-based learning and examinations required of 'O' Levels.

Conventional wisdom is the enemy of thought.
