I offer up these two. First is an assault on your eyes and mind. So much thought provoking stuff going on. The second is brilliant in its brutal simplicity at describing a relationship.
Tatu, all the things she said. May aswell lock this thread now.
As someone who'd never had sky, I remember freeview coming out and finally getting it late 2002. I watched ' the hits ' and ' tmf ' repeatedly thanks very much to this lovely video :)

Never seen that before as it's not my type of band, but YouTubed it and yes, decent video. The story's a bit cliched but it's well done, and a very brutal ending. Not what I expected at the end.

Yeah it's decent ain't it. It's the only music video that has stuck in my head and I associate it straight away if the song comes on the radio. Which is the point really I suppose.

Hurt. Johnny Cash.
Yes good one that.
Two songs that have recently come back on radar with interesting videos from the early days of the format, Peter Gabriel Sledgehammer and Talking Heads Road to Nowhere. Songs sound very fresh after years of not hearing.

I'd add in A-ha's Take On Me and New Order's True Faith as great examples of mid-80s pop videos.

Cry, Godley & Creme was another. Two Tribes by FGTH (which could well be screened today with the same effect).
There was a good series on one of the Sky channels about groundbreaking videos. Godley & Creme were obviously at the forefront of video direction during the 80s.
Obviously some of the videos mentioned were made with multi-million pound budgets, and Hollywood directors, and are truly great and stand the test of time.
But the band whose videos I admire most, because they are clearly made with minimal budget, and what they lack in cash they have to make up for in energy, enthusiasm, wit and timing (as well as clearly roping in every friend and relative to act as extras) are Keston Cobblers' Club:
Sweet, beguiling story-telling:
Bonkers mass-participation (with a nice pay-off/punchline):
And taking their Etsy/Pinterest aesthetic to its logical conclusion, in a video every bit as stylised as Damien Hirst's epic for Blur's Country House:
And if you fancy winning £250, watch their latest video here:
