I don't mind hoddle. He is level headed and doesn't get too overexcited if we score or too worried if we concede (unlike 95% of England fans) He also knows that football is all about passing and moving above anything else. You are correct about his voice though, voice is about as boring as mick mills'. |  |

He is monotone, but it is job to point out the obvious as most people watching fail to see the intricacies of the game, other than the score in the top left hand corner of the screen.
His performance as player/manager/skipper/sweeper for Swindon against us in the mid 90's is still as good as any I've seen from an opposition player, absolutely dictated the game and they smashed us.
His views on non-football stuff aren't for me but I can't see how you can compare him with Townsend. |  | | |

He knows what he is talking about when it comes to football. Not a lot of people that get employed as pundits and commentators sound like they do. Some of BTs and not to mention sky sports football league commentators and pundits are awful. |  | | |

I've made similar comments previously..
There was one England match where he singled out Rose, Walker, Dier, Alli and Kane for praise at every opportunity.. And since then I can't help but be aware of every time he mentions anything Spurs related.. Which is pretty regularly [Post edited 6 Oct 2017 11:45]
