A trace level here, a trace level there, I'm sure there's absolutely nothing to worry about !

Very concerning, especially the fact that wheat products contain 646 times the amount found in the ice cream. Wheat is in so many products, it means every pizza we eat, every every Sandwich, every cake is laced with a potentially cancer causing chemical.

At what point did we as species decide that drenching our food in weed killer during the production process was a good idea? Absolutely bonkers as Mick would say.

Fair play to Ben & Jerry's for doing something about it and pledging to launch an Organic range but I feel more needs to be done by others. There really needs to be more pressure put on food companies to boycott this product and start producing cleaner and healthier food but the problem ( as in so many other areas of life ) is that money and profit always seems to come before morals and ethics. Monsanto is one truly evil company.

We really are being treated like cash generating guinea pigs. If we will put up with being slowly poisoned then what hope is there. Progress ?

Is it morals and ethics or is it simply we couldn't feed the world population without such (hopefully much safer) products. Seven billion is quite a few people.

Can you farm organically for seven billion? Here is a blog from a week known person at Harvard outlining some issues with organic farming:

http://theness.com/neurologicablog/index.php/organic-farming-is-bad-for-the-envi

Obviously you are right in the fact that any products used in farming should be as safe as is absolutely possible.

Stokie I think the term you would use for that article, especially in relation to the use of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and fertilisers would be "fluffy" !

I got as far as this statement before my common sense radar kicked in and told me whole article was a steaming pile of horsesh!t.

'Organic food is no more healthful or nutritious than conventional food. Further, GMO technology is safe and there are no health concerns with the GMO products currently on the market'.

I know that statement to be completely untrue so I doubt the rest of the piece will be any better.

It's nice that you've got an open mind and bothered to make it through the article....

How do you know that statement to be untrue? Have you got your evidence? There are many peered reviewed studies showing scaremongering on GMOs and that organic foods are no more nutritious or better for the environment.

You can of course say that you prefer them or they are better for the community but your broad dismissal is incorrect.

A quick browse on my commute finds numerous articles and studies.

Organic food and farming:

GMO:

https://amp.theguardian.com/environment/2016/may/18/gm-food-is-generally-safe-fo

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-truth-about-genetically-modified-

I'm not an advocate of non-organic food or GMOs. I'm not keen on pseudoscience though which is the key here.

My hot take: if you're scoffing down enough Ben & Jerry's that the amounts are anything higher than negligible then these carcinogens are the least of your troubles

But you are missing the point that you are getting small doses across a broad range of food stuffs ......anyway if you are happy with that then fair enough.

There wasn't a great deal of science in evidence in the initial link to be fair !

Did you click through? For instance if you click on the GMO link in the text it takes you to another blog citing 20 year studies and the FDA. The same is true for the other links. I perhaps could have posted a better link but that was the first that came to hand and he is a respected scientist.

Now I've posted other links which cite peer reviewed papers I'd be interested to hear your take on them (when you have time to read them of course). Would be interested to hear the evidence behind Harry's stone cold assertion as well given it's contradicted by so many studies.
