Does anyone know if you will still be able to cash in old pound coins in the bank, even after next week’s deadline?

There’s a fair amount of inconsistent info out there.

I’ve got one of those jars that you smash but it’s not full yet and was intending for it to be a present.

Many places are going to continue taking them. The post office have confirmed they will continue to take them but they can change their mind at any time so best to convert them if you can. Obviously smashing the jar isn't ideal for that though.

I don't think you should smash the jar in the bank. That could be misconstrued.

But as for accepting outdated cash, I'm sure they'll honour anything for quite some time.
