ME wants David McGoldrick out in Jan, off the wage bill.
Source, very decent

I was lucky enough to see the final 8 mins of the game vs Aston Villa (season 2016/17)

No wonder we're forking out £90,000 on an unknown Irish youngster then ... .

In all seriousness though, worrying if true. Probably regrets not taking that £7m for him now.

Poll: If we was given the option to sign 1 of these permanently, who would it be?

You only need to see previously starting line ups posted to see I've had info.

I think team information is a bit different to knowing ME’s wider strategy, but don’t doubt you’ve heard this from somewhere

Will reserve judgement until January - fair play if this comes true although I’ll admit I’m sceptical

Apparently ME believes Waggy and Garner to be enough...

Makes sense. Get him off the wage bill, save £500k a year or so and condemn ourselves to losing £5m+ a season forever.

Suppose given the way they have started, one could forgive ME for thinking that .... HOWEVER, as I've always said, when McGoldrick plays well, the whole side plays well, he's the one that makes us tick (see Sunderland game). We haven't got anyone else like him, unless MM see's Nydam as a number 10 in the long term (did start there against Barnsley).

Sorry but I don't believe a word of it.

Why would he want our best player gone even if he is on high wages?

This is just your classic 'look at me' thread. Someone is upset at all the attention Dolly has been getting.

... because he is coming to the end of his contract and January might be the last chance to get a few quid for him? (and thus saving on his wages)

I was told ME is looking to sell Dozzell for £5m in January too.

My source is also very reliable

May depend on the league situation too. If we remain in and around the top 6 then I definitely don’t see it, but if we’ve fallen away to mid table then it’s possibel Evans may see it as a chance to recoup some money and simultaneously reduce the wage bill

I’m still not buying it though!

The 2 go hand in hand though, surely? Given McGoldrick's contract situation, that is. In the last year of his deal, allegedly want's his high wages off the bill, meaning January is our last chance to sell for a fee (unless he signs a pre-contract abroad somewhere).

Has he been offered a new contract? If not, no reason why this wouldn't be likely..

Surely not. They're both overperformers; McGoldrick is a natural.

At this moment in time, I don't think he has been offered a new deal. Unless I've missed something in the last couple of weeks!

I don't believe for a second he won't get offered a new deal unless the medical staff have said he's a ticking timebomb every time he regains fitness.
