Anyone else here brave enough to admit that Trifle is actually delicious?

I'm actually a big fan - if it's done right of course.

Fresh cream, strawberries, thick creamy custard, not too crazy with the sponge, strawberry jelly.

Chocolate trifle is good.

The classic trifle is for old people who refuse to embrace 2017.

Trifle is the dogs..
Agree with the not too much sponge bit.. and never, EVER spoil it with Sherry. Why that used to be (still is?) put in it is beyond me.

I'm a bit old school in thinking that a trifle needs to have the tangy fruit for sweetness - thereby sidetracking the chocolate altogether.

Now, a chocolate torte, or a chocolate mousse - or even a ganache - YES, that would be nice.

I'd rather eat a dry trifle sponge than that mes you've posted.

Chocolate as a dessert needs to be done right - not wasted in a bloody trifle.

Yeah, never really got the purpose of sherry in there. Never enough to get anyone wasted & it tastes rank.

I remember my mum making a very boozy Tiramisu one Christmas. Think she soaked the fingers in a combination of whiskey, amaretto & Tia Maria. Definitely overdid it. Tasted great though.

The food of the Gods.....when you were 10.

Not had a BFG for a very long time. Might have even been a Sara Lee effort on a birthday.

Three course meal opened up with a prawn cocktail, finished off with a BFG. Food of the 70s gods.

The main course was undoubtedly cheese fondue, then everybody promptly threw their keys into a bowl after desserts.

I love Trifle! Mother in law made the best - home made custard, lashings of cream, proper sponge cakes, cut in half with jam in the middle; proper fruit like peaches and apricots suitably soaked in one liquor or another, and lots of other alcohol!

Truly the foods of the gods.

Trifle is great. Tho the way my mother makes it has no custard and glace cherries on top of the cream.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Gives the sponge a bit of bite. But should not be overdone, the aim is taste, not alcoholic effects.

Nothing wrong with a decent chocolate sponge with lots of fresh cream buh! Nor cherries.

That Sara Lee brand has a lot to answer for, Trashed every classic they could think of didn't they?

Yep. Sara Lee was certainly a thing of its time. Sure they did an Apple Strudel too.
The boxes always looked impressive. Always looked taller than the other brands.

As with many foods, of it's done properly with good ingredients is lovely.

You're only allowed to eat it over the Xmas period though.
