There's an ongoing civil war/insurgency in the country, which has not ceased despite drifting out of the world media's gaze. Maybe not usually quite as bloody as this, but al-Shabaab bombings/attacks and actions in response by government and African Union forces happen every week or so, often with tens of fatalities.
