That's really sad news. Likewise thoughts with the Butchers.

Thoughts and prayers with Butch and his family doesn't this go to show how insignificant a game of football is in the great scheme of things RIP

WTF?! Was he ill or had an ongoing health issue? That's terrible

Edit. Just read about it, even worse than first thought.

Massive 'one Terry butcher' Sunday it is then... was he number 5? Could be the minute of choice? Or naturally 35 for his sons age?

I would have thought " One Terry Butcher" and applause at 35 minutes would be most appropriate (?)

I remember when Christopher was little, I'd have a little kickabout with him by the practice pitch as dad trained.

Funnily enough, I was only looking at some old programmes the other day and there was a Butcher family pic with the young boys there. Seeing that makes it seem so desperately sad and unreal. Same with Elena Baltacha a few years ago.

I think a couple of this morning's threads/posts highlight the beauty, fragility and sadness of life Ryorry.

I can't say reading a few threads here hasn't led to 'dusty eyes' today. I absolutely love being part of TWTDs at it's best though, and there are plenty of wonderful people in this community.

It is really sad news like this that makes a mere game of football seem so trivial.
My sincere condolences to all Chris's family may he rest in peace now free from pain.

Just a thought, but as his late son's name was Christopher, how about starting off with "one Chris Butcher" and ending with "one Terry Butcher"?
