Grapes 15:41 - Oct 27 with 5344 views | vapour_trail | I have just discovered untold amounts of them down the bottom of my garden. No fruit has previously appeared on the tree in the four years we've had the place to date. So experts of twtd, how can I transform this fruity discovery into award winning plonk?

I'm confidently plumping for grapes. I've just googled damsons and don't think that's what we have.

Grapes on 15:48 - Oct 27 with 5312 views | clive_baker | How many are you talking? You'll need circa 800 grapes for 1 bottle. I recommend eating them and picking up some wine from Tesco. Easier innit.

| And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show |

They'd be massive grapes to be confused with damsons surely? They're essentially plums aren't they? We had a few trees on the grandparents' farm and although I was a kid, I'd confidently say they were massive compared to grapes. Lovely though. Rarely see them or greengages any more as it happens.

Grapes on 16:57 - Oct 27 with 5231 views | connorscontract | What do the leaves of the tree look like? This is a fairly classic grape vine leaf shape, although there can be a little variation from this basic shape: It's just that you say "tree" and grape vines don't really take on a shape that most people would describe as a tree, unless heavily trained.

We got loads of Damsons on the tree in our garden, although this was a month or more ago now thinking about it. Ours look like little plums, so yes, they probably were a bit on the large side to be confused with grapes.

800 you say. Ok could be a limited vintage this year. Might run to a few bottles. That will make my vino very valuable no doubt.

It looks like a tree. And there's grapes right up the top of it.

Which is weird because grapes grow on vines in bunches here and there, and the ones that grow in Britain and usually hard as bullets and extremely sour.

I don't think it would be right to rule any of these alternative theories out completely. I'm sticking with my grape tree theory though.

Yeah had a little nibble earlier. Got a couple of bunches in the colander. I'm going to get my ladder out and harvest the mofo tomorrow

Yeah, like the difference between a tree and a vine - why don't you get Lucan round to your house, feed him some of these 'grapes' and put him in front of a computer. I have a feeling that a classic thread could emerge...
