Defending abysmal. 20:56 - Oct 31 with 2795 views | Rozz | Letting Berra go without replacement will define our season IMO, and sours an otherwise very good transfer window. Second season running we've been hamstrung by awful business.

I completely agree, and he had his faults... but 3 first team centre backs is mental. Especially if your best system includes all 3. We set ourselves up for huge failure in not securing a leader at the back.

Yeah agreed on that, we seem to repeat the same mistakes every season. MM is a decent manager and I don't agree with his methods but he is handicapped by the people above him. Ipswich under Evans seem to be much like Newcastle under Mike Ashley. There's a complete lack of ambition from the people at the top. They are both clubs with plenty of potential, simply treading water forever onwards.

I'm indifferent. Murphy was undoubtedly beyond his control, but the failure to bring in a replacement for Berra was a fatal one IMO. We've improved in lots of areas of the pitch. Despite what many say, I think we are passing quicker, our movement is better, even the back line look more comfortable on the ball. For most of last season we relied on Lawrence, and now we have good options on the deck and going forward. They have to be. This is Mick's last shot. It's a shame, injuries included, that we look so poor at the back. This is Mick's strength, his anecdote amongst every manager and pundit across the game, and we look a shambles. IMO that's the biggest indication that he's done here, and in all honesty, I'm not too arsed. We don't gain anything going nowhere.
