it's a sobering reminder of where we're at, and likely to stay at barring a miracle.
One good/lucky season and it all changes - just need to catch a few breaks and make the most of them and get a slice of luck and our path is totally changed for the next 5 years

Have we ever been premier league standard, bar one season?
I'm assuming Premiership is synonymous with the top league, be it Division 1, Premiership, Premier League.
It depends on your experience s of supporting us. My first 8-10 years we were one of the best teams in the country and a very solid European team. It's been a long time though

Exactly right, I think if Mick was given say 5m in January in our play-off season he'd have got us promoted, instead he was given 100k and he got Freddie Sears - which was a bargain at the time. That time has gone now though....
I blame Ruud van Horseface. If he hadn't cheated the ref we could have stayed up, regrouped, strengthened, not sold our best players and not been prey to someone looking to play at being a football club owner.

Indeed, if he meant PL then my point was quite valid, if he meant top division then as you say, we were at the pinnacle of English football, albeit a generation ago.
