Best Live Band 70s/80s 16:14 - Nov 15 with 25269 viewsitfcpaul

What's the best live band you have seen recently who arrived in the late 70s 80s?

I will start with a few thoughts:
OMD
Gary Numan
Barenaked Ladies
Green Day
ELO
Midge Ure

What's yours?

Is Kraftwerk cheating? Don't really care if it is, tbh. Kraftwerk.

And The Fall were as I'd expected them to be.

10cc at the Apex last year.
AC/DC Black Ice tour MEN Arena Manchester in 2009 & the best gig ever at Download in 2010.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

there are not many who are still gigging with much credibility.

I'll give you some from that era who I saw recently (last few years).

The Hamsters
Iron Maiden - Seventh Son tour and the one before that (can't remember)

I did see these bands last year, both at the Roundhouse;
The Specials - Jeepers they are good. With Steve Craddock on guitar as well.
Adam Ant - Awful! His band are like a pub band but slightly better and he was all over the place. I went with my middle son, who has played the Roundhouse himself (sold out) and bigged him up. He laughed at me.

Doh!

How could I forget David Gilmour.

Albert Hall, front row seats in a box directly facing the stage. Sat next to my bestie, who also plays a strat......

I cried.

Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me. Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing. Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial. Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid. Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

10cc for sure. A big shout out to John Lees' Barclay James Harvest. And Roger Waters, ex Floyd.

But my vote goes to the amazing King Crimson. Still innovating and challenging after all these years. Their recent Live in Chicago release is possibly my fave live album ever.
