Hypothetical Signing 03:41 - Nov 20 with 7788 viewsBrettenhamBlue

If you could sign ONE championship player right now to improve ITFC's existing squad (wages somehow paid for by other club for two years for some fantastical reason), who would you sign?

Rúben Neves - shouldn't be playing this level. Utter class.

Partner Skuse with him or one of the youngsters?

Tom Huddlestone

I genuinely think a midfielder of his ilk combined with a solid centre back Signing in January would fire us to the playoffs.

Unfortunately that involves money being spent

Wish we would invest and make that push for promotion. Tedious being forever in the Championship.

But you should not be surprised really.
MM was team manager then & still is so it would be odd if the football became better.

As for signings, the midfield needs re-building & has done ever since MM arrived.

Ryan Woods or Tom Cairney.

Are you mad?

Covers every blade of grass, loves a tackle and runs the game. He's exactly the sort of player MMc would like.

He was going to be my suggestion as well.

Was going to say the same thing. Absurd to think he wouldn't fit in to an MM side.

MM would soon knock the footballer out of him.
& MM wouldn't drop one of his favourites to make way for him

Yeah, MM has knocked the 'footballer' out of Huws, McGoldrick, Celina and Adeyemi so far, hasn't he?

Huws & Adeyemi haven't played recently
Celina looked good BUT?
McGoldrick spent a long time @ ITFC out of the 1st team

But you can look at some of the others

And McG still looks a class act when he is fit.

You would have been better off using Sears as an example.

He does
but since MM has been at ITFC 'fitness & injuries ' have been a real problem-?

Okay, so in the 16 odd games Huws played for us last season, I don't recall the 'footballer' being taken out of him. Neither have I seen that in the 5/6 times Adeyemi has played for us.

Celina BUT what? I think Mick has finally found a winger who replicates Jarvis/Kightly of his Wolves side, but with added flair.

McGoldrick? Come on. He's our best player with one leg, let alone 2. The 'footballer' is still very much in him.

In terms of others, Chambers? Never really been a ball playing centre back wherever he's played, neither has Smith in his 9/10 years here. Webster? Looks very much a footballer to me, but has learnt/still learning when it is necessary to bring the ball out/when to clear. Spence, half decent player, no more than that, same with Knudsen. Skuse we all know is limited, Garner has hardly been a 'footballer' wherever he has been, but what he does have he uses well, and Waghorn? Can't say i've seen the 'footballer' knocked out of him yet.

As ITFC_Forever says, I'll give you Sears, because the poor sod spent 18 months on the wing after coming off the back of 6 very good months playing alongside Murph up top. But other than that, I can't really think of too many more who have had the footballer knocked out of them from Mick.

Another hypothetical question would be , if Mick was given a decent budget could he build a footballing team?
