Phil - cheeky, but can you pin?? I know a fair few of us are interested in chatting about this as well as ITFC.

To kick start - series predictions?

I am going Australia 2-3 England.

That's Australia's day then.

We need a good session tomorrow or the series could start slipping away within 7 days!

Yeah Aussies just ahead but a second opportunity with the new ball tomorrow morning to get 3/4 quick ones.

England need to knock them over quickly and not allow them to get away. I just worry, when it is our turn to bat, the Aussie bowlers will be able to get more out of the pitch than ours.

The problem is at no stage in this series so far have we got quick follow up wickets when a new batsman comes in.

Too many partnerships of 40+ get going before we get the wicket

Frustrating day really. Never felt like ti got going, we had spells of bowling tightly but never felt like a number of wickets were going to fall. The worry is England have a habit of losing wickets in clusters and even a score of 300 by Australia could be a tall order for us if the Aussie quicks get it right.

and another thing, we need to hit the avenue of apprehension more tomorrow morning, first up with that new ball!!!

What on earth has Root done, nothing in this pitch. Woakes bowling far too short

Lord knows I'm Yorkshire through & through, but Root's decisions as England captain have me increasingly worried.

Have a bad feeling about both this Test and the series. Never hoped more that I'm wrong on all counts!!

Poll: Why can't/don't we protest like the French do? 🤔

Morning Ryorry.

It feels like we've been saying it every day of the series so far but it's a big session coming up.

Giving the slow scoring rate, it feels like many over 300 puts all the pressure on us. They get to bat in daylight and if we come in once it's cold and dark chasing 350+, the match could have gone, certainly as one we can win.

But of course Jimmy and Broady will make sure that's not the case!

Haha, pls don't go all 'commentators' curse on us - you didn't say your last sentence!!!!

Think it could be the pivotal session of the series actually ...
I'd love us to gerrem all out in the next 30 mins, but how long does it take a new ball to get soft enough for our batsmen?!

I didn't realise that it started early today and was re-watching our goals from yesterday when the wicket went down!

Now I've started watching, they're hitting Jimmy for fours!

Yeah, we don't seem to know how to get a grip.

I'd like that new boy Overton from Somerset to have a bowl early doors, he seemed fired up enough y'day! and that was a beauty of a ball to get his first wicket.

Overton is on now and looking OK.

I often think Broad doesn't always get the praise he deserves. He could go past 400 wickets in this series and is 4 years younger than Jimmy. He could become our greatest wicket taker, although his action makes it unlikely that he'll last as well as Jimmy.

A quick 30 partnership here is not what we needed.

Wahey, another wicket - oh, being reviewed ... dammit, Marsh survives

And there was me thinking Broad was older than Jimmy!

Gotta go to bed, falling over - as I hope all the Aus wickets are, very soon ..

Nighty night :)

I always wonder about the accuracy of the review system when it's a height issue. Gutted!

It's horrible when you celebrate a wicket and it's overturned.

Ooh, another 'wicket' and referral...

Same outcome jeez wept, lovely deliveries both of them, love JA's reaction, keep at it lad...but could be crucial me feels..

Hitting the spot now though..

Lovely setting, especially in HD...

Did someone take up your free ticket offer? Nice gesture that...

I thought the first one was out but the second looked like a poor decision. It makes you realise how many poor decisions are made without DRS! I think the Aussies have got through a spell that could have out us in control and I think we're up against it now.

They've done such a good job with re-developing this ground whilst keeping the natural settings part of it.

Nobody got in touch about the ticket. Shame as it's always good to get use out of them, and to meet fellow TWTD posters!

Yeah, be interesting to look back over the years of the Ashes at all decisions and turn the DRS on, for all wrong and right decisions, be interesting....next hour or so crucial now, they have a foothold it seems, can change with a wicket we know but my call is if they post over 400 which I feel they will now, it will be very hard for us to win from there...

Right, I've done the night nurse ....when I get up again I want these feckers out for 360!!

Enjoy...:)

Cheers!

If they get close to 400, it doesn't feel like we can win - that would be sad for the series. If we lose this one, there could be a couple of dead rubbers, which is not good when you look forward to the games for a couple of years!

I think they have got too many now, especially given the time taken out of the test.

I can't see how we might get 50 or so more than they do in our first innings, and we'll be batting last.

We'll be batting in difficult conditions towards the end of today and I can see us being 2 or 3 down.

Here's a review…probably umpire's call...
