To kick start - series predictions?

I am going Australia 2-3 England.

I think they have got too many now, especially given the time taken out of the test.

I can't see how we might get 50 or so more than they do in our first innings, and we'll be batting last.

We'll be batting in difficult conditions towards the end of today and I can see us being 2 or 3 down.

Here's a review…probably umpire's call...

I’ve only been watching since 6am, but Anderson looks like a frustrated figure seems to be bowling well with little reward.

Anderson could easily have had 4 or 5 in this innings. We've played fairly well for most of the series but still look way behind.

I can't make a case for us winning this one, and Australia are accelerating, as you'd expect. We could be batting against 450 and be 30-3 later today...

A bit of a worry when their number 9 makes batting look easy. Is that the pitch or just the lack of threat from our bowling attack? Just can’t see Broad doing the same against the Aussies when they bowl later. We’re in serious trouble here.

Their bowlers are so much better than ours bowlingat the tail & they’re also a lot better at batting than ours.

Yep, if the top order doesn't fold here it will be a miracle. Starting to look like a 5-0 on the cards, although still think we might nick one once the Ashes are sown up.

The worry for me is that when we find ourselves in a good/decentish position, we manage to let them off the hook. We've not been steamrollered at all really, two really bad sessions in Brisbane aside so you feel that an absolute leathering is still on the cards somewhere.

Our bowling is not varied enough. No surprise element, especially pace. Woakes has looked completely innocuous and Ali is just getting nothing and looks all the more like a part-time spinner.

And as for the score now 400 odd with more to come, looks out of reach already.

Very glad I didn't bother getting BT sports.

*SPOILER ALERT*

We'll be 50-4 against the pink ball under lights tonight. Afraid I've seen this film before too many times. Still can't believe without Mark Wood we didn't have Plunkett available for selection, we just have nothing of note to back up our big two.

I didn’t get up early today. In an attempt to manage my own expectations I guessed the most pessimistic position England could be in at dinner. I guessed 400/7....it was 409.

The most disheartening thing is that this Australian team are clearly not all that. 7 batsmen have had starts here and they will still only score 450. That said, I predicted yesterday England will be bowled out for 150 in their first innings and with the session tonight under lights ahead that is still on.

Moan, moan, moan.....could get really messy once England heads drop and Australia get conditions that actually suit them later in the tour.

Yes, well exactly. The two tests so far are the most favourable conditions we are going to have. The Adelaide test was the one seen as the test we SHOULD win. Perth could be a massacre.

Aussies declare.

New ball in the evening under lights.

I’ll be surprised if we don’t finish this day 3 or 4 down.

This is going to be a challenge.

Even if Stoneman and Cook stand firm, which they are exactly the sort of openers you'd want in that position, you can bet your arse one, or both, will get an absolute peach that will take an edge.

Indeed. Especially as they’ll know we got our lengths wrong.

We’ve got to try & match Aus score & make it a one innings game.

We all knew that their extra pace would be the difference - Overton was bowling in the mid-seventies and Starc is over 90!

I'll be happy to be watching this in day 5 but I'm not sure we will!

A really poor day. We lack intensity in the field and are not creating any pressure. Contrast that to when Australia bowl and it feels like a wicket could fall every ball.

I hold out no hope we will bat well tomorrow. Expect 180 all out and the follow on.

That fear that is. If we could overcome our own fears that a wicket could fall very ball, or that Cooks not getting far enough forward or that Vince looks susceptible out side off stump etc.. then we might have a chance, its fear that is doing us in.

Didn't watch any of yesterday after watching every ball on day 1. Tiredness got the better of me and I was out before the first ball yesterday. May or may not make it tonight depending on sleep.

I have to say.. for sleeping purposes I HATE this day nighter. It's a lot to ask to stay up until 3:30 just to then see the start of the cricket.

No doubt the Aussies are in control but i still think the draw is likely on this pitch. Have stuck a couple of quid on the draw at 3/1

It's not just the UK wanna-sleepers that hate it I suspect - when it's dark, cold & possibly rainy, who wants to spend over 2 hours actually there, sitting more or less immobile watching? (or having nothing to watch ...). Even 90 mins of footie with plenty of jumping up & down can be a bit of a stretch!
