The Ashes 2017/2018 Thread 16:47 - Nov 22 with 309829 viewsMaySixth

Phil - cheeky, but can you pin?? I know a fair few of us are interested in chatting about this as well as ITFC.

To kick start - series predictions?

I am going Australia 2-3 England.

202-6. Paine gone. That was an absolute beauty from Jimmy.

The catch sounded pretty special.

This is on a knife edge.

🚨WICKET!🚨

That is a beauty from Jimmy Anderson. An absolute corker that has moved away with the swing of the new ball but then just nips away off the seam. The late movement and bounce gets Paine squared up to edge it through to Bairstow. A cracker of a delivery and England have a 6th.

Huge 10 overs now with this new ball. It is moving all over the place.

202-6

Yep. Another good take from Bairstow. Being the king of the jinx, I shouldn't say this but we have a hell of a chance here.

Didn't realise how good a catch it was at first but the replay just showed it.

Haven't you got a stream to watch it? I've got me nans BT account set up on me tablet but I used a stream the other day. I can send you it if you need.

Broad's eyes light up getting Starc on strike. First ball to him ends up in the stand. 😂

Edit..then gets him!

What a strike from a Starc off his third ball! A straight drive over broads head and it goes all the way.

Magnificent shot. So good that I thought it was worth an update alone

How about that for a comeback from Broad! Caught and bowled. Starc seemed to lose his bearings a bit and just chips it back to Broad for a simple catch.

This is brilliant viewing. You just can't beat an ashes away series during the night lads. You just can't!

Bairstow has been excellent for a while now - I genuinely think playing with Moeen and Stokes takes the pressure off each of them but in this match, there is more pressure on the middle order.

Bairstow has become a decent keeper too - very nice catch earlier.

Never been more delighted to be proved wrong - brilliant 1-handed catch from Jonny there!

Woohoooooo - and another one now as I was typing that!! Starc out 2nd - edit, sorry 3rd - ball, after a mighty 6 off his first! c & b Broad - Aus 209/7

All looking very nice!

On a bizarre but unrelated note:

Anyone else slightly disturbed by these betting adverts that keep popping up in breaks in play on BT Sport about "What does it feel like to be Kwiffed?" and then shots of attractive women looking all sexy eg the sexy teacher?

It's not the blatant sexist stuff primarily, but I can't be the only one who thinks "They do not what a "quiffe" is, right? They do check the Urban Dictionary before launching brand names, don't they?"

Am I the only person familiar with this word?

Absolutely - the sheer coiled up spring of intensity that was Jimmy unleashing it was so well captured close-up by the camera - cheers for the you-know what! I'm actually appreciating that it's a minute or two behind TMS, as it allows me to make occasional forays to the loo/make cuppas etc & dash back to screen if anything happens!

What we can't do now is that silly habit where we allow the set batsman to farm the strike and we have one or two balls an over at the no.9 10 or 11

Morning CC.

I'd never heard it tbh. I guess they go on the basis that it's past the watershed? which of course is rather stupid.

His side. 12th man came out with a tablet. Ball took over his end but Anderson stayed on the field (possibly because it's so close to lunch). Hopefully nothing serious but it does seem inevitable it will be.
