Freddie Sears 21:44 - Nov 22 with 9368 viewsclive_baker

Out of his depth.Utter sh1te for how long now? Completely careless in possession in injury time too. That 5 minutes sums up the difference between sears and garner.

We never learn. Nothing we saw tonight it any surprise. I feel sorry for the likes of Garner, Waghorn, McGoldrick, Webster, Chambers, Bart for having to line up alongside Sears, Spence etc. Completely out of their depth and I’m fed up with it. It’s not a one off, they’re consistently sub standard.

He should have killed the game when he rounded the keeper only to make a total horlicks of it

He has decent pace which gave us something but he has well and truly lost his footballing brain

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Let's not lump Spence in Sears' bracket. He's been a bit inconsistent this season and made the error for the penalty but was generally ok.

Sears on the other hand - completely fcks up a great chance to give Celina an easy 2-0 finish, then decides to try and be a clever tit and gives away possession when he just needed to hold onto it.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Maybe playing Freddie out of position for 18 months has not helped to be fair.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

Not havin that.

He should of scored or at least set one up, but other than that once he found his feet he ran the Wednesday defenders all over the place. Got in round the back more times than Garner, but looked short on goalscoring confidence as you'd expect.

SEARS needs to be off loaded ASAP but who is going to take him. His next stop is Chelmsford FC.
Just not good enough.

Yes, because he should definitely be playing centre forward with his finishing ability

Wonder if beng played out of position for most of McCarthy reign here, has any input to a striker who scored for fun when he stepped up to the plate when Didsy and Murphy were both out injured.
He a striker that likes to attack the defender from a central position. He is not a winger...apparently Didsy is also a winger!! McCarthy is a bloody tool!

Thing is though that he's not the same as the player who arrived from Col U. We can too and fro about why but the lad is very low on confidence and looks shot to bits. He has missed so many relatively easy chances.

He needs a loan elsewhere to get his career back on track or a move.

I feel quite sorry for the lad as he does give his all but its not good enough anymore.

He should have killed the game? When the score was 1-1 with over half hour left to play?

Apologies the score was 1-0 at the time

He was an average, 1 in 5 player who joined Town in the middle of the one season in his career that he scored more regularly

Since joining Town, he has been an average, 1 in 5 player

Who was ruining him before he joined us when he had a similar record?

For all the 'Mick ruined him' rubbish, there was a reason why he had dropped down to Colchester.

This idea that Mick has 'ruined' Sears is laughable.

Waghorn is a striker being asked to play right midfield or right wing. He's scored nine already.

Tom Lawrence was a winger, also asked to play up front. He scored nine for us.

Sears went almost 50 matches without scoring and continues to fluff finishes and one-on-ones regardless of whether he is playing wide or pushed up front.

He had a purple patch as the little man alongside Murphy. Since Murph's departure, he has reverted to being the League One striker we bought from Colchester and, if anything, Mick has given him, and continues to give him, more chances to play than he would get at most other Championship clubs.

There's a reason he dropped from the Premier League to League One level - or is Mick to blame for that too?

On the other hand it was a nice run and bit of control from Sears that led to Waghorn's shot which gave us the corner for the first goal.

And it was a lovely diagonal ball from Sears to Huws from which Huws crossed for the second goal.

Don't boil a kettle on a boat.

Sears has always been a bit cack apart from that patch where he was played as a striker at Colchester and then here.

If we gave him a run of games up front he'd rediscover his form - but that hasn't happened since the playoff season.

He certainly should have scored yesterday but you can't chuck a striker on for 15 minutes here and there and expect him to be well-oiled.

Hopefully he gets a few games up front now McGoldrick's out.

There's a reason we bought him as well - because he was scoring for fun as a striker in a struggling side.

After being played all over the shop early in his career, he'd finally found his position imo - and he's a decent striker at this level - why we've reverted to playing him all over the shop to accommodate Brett "the targetman" Pitman only Mick can try to justify. It's safe to say that it's worked for Sears when he's played as a striker (Newcastle last season showed he's still got it) and the tactic of playing him as a winger hasn't.

Absolutely should have scored yesterday but he won't need telling. Confidence is everything for a striker.
