I feel I left Trump's USA at just the right time. Cost of living in my old UK haunts of London/Brighton scupper moving back there. Toyed with the idea of Manchester/Scotland/Wales. Decided on Berlin. Language issues aside, it's a great place to be. Affordable rent, cheap transport/food/living. Unsure how Brexit is going to affect me. Will just have to wait & see.

Is anyone here on 11:09 - Nov 24 by JakeITFC | I'm applying for an Irish passport in case I decide to, but I've quite fancied working in Germany for a while (no because of Brexit). |
Moved to Berlin three months ago. Beside the irritating beaurocracy - which to be fair is just as irritating as I found in the UK - it's a great place to be.....as long as you make an effort with the language.

My grandparents didn't fight in the war for me to end up speaking German etc, etc.

You could just go all Keno and treat the alphabet with contempt...

That's not narrowed things down. You can ski in a whole number of far flung countries. If that SnoAsis place ever gets the thumbs-up, you'll be able to put some skis on in Suffolk.

Norway. Born with skis on their feed.

Is anyone here on 13:22 - Nov 24 with 4684 views | DanTheMan | I might, especially if the development jobs dry up. I can go to a different country and get better pay and a better quality of life. Not planning on it though, even if I don't like where the country is heading. I still have family here who I am close to.

Is anyone here on 12:38 - Nov 24 by BlueinBrum | Not imminently planning to leave but I'd say the Brexit vote has increased my chances of doing so fairly substantially. Right now i would never consider living anywhere in the UK except London. There are a number of professional reasons for that but also culturally it's the only place i feel aligned to at the moment. As you can probably tell, i'm still immensely bitter about the subject and the potential difficulties to free movement it will bring. [Post edited 24 Nov 2017 12:39]

I met quite a few Norwegians based in Philadelphia. They all worked in the shipyards. Good money too. There were occasions they ran-up pub bar bills of $400. This was just on beer, no spirits or shots. They were a lovely bunch.

Berlin is amazing, that's ideally where I'd move. My German is passable at current, but learning the language properly is one of the reasons I want to do it. Just need to find a job and take the plunge.

What area of jobs would you be looking for? There's a huge Start Up community here. Unfortunately not my area of expertise, but loads of Developing techy stuff. Most of them are generally English speaking environments.

So around the ribcage somewhere. Some people like to explore, others feel secure staying put. There's no right or wrong, but for me life's too short to be too shortsighted. If someone gets the chance to look further afield, I'd think them mad not to take it.
