Jordan Spence 09:51 - Nov 27 with 12278 views | itfcjoe | He may not be the best RB we’ve ever had, but he does a decent job generally even if he has the odd bad game. Has popped up with the odd goal and assist too. I personally thought Iorfa would be a decent enough signing and win the role, but Spence has looked much better than him this year - and you don’t rotate right backs. Mick needs to make a decision and give a back 4 a solid run of games and that should help with the soft goals having a settled defence.

Whoever goes in there needs a run in the team, and if it means an expensive player sitting on the bench long term then so be it

Jordan Spence on 10:14 - Nov 27 with 7601 views | Bluefish | Thisnlot blow like the wind and RB is the latest thing they are getting upset about. Spence is perfectly decent and was simply rested for the last game as you should do with full backs occasioanlly. Iorfa came in and had a stinker, he is a disappointment but Emmanuel is not the answer yet. EVERYONE used chambers at RB as a stick to beat mick and now it is seen as clever to suggest it.

Jordan Spence on 10:15 - Nov 27 with 7602 views | Basuco | Spence has improved during his time at Town and continues to improve in my opinion, Iorfa is a loan signing and is looking for a permanent deal, I presume, the question for MM is has he done enough to achieve this? Maybe or maybe not.

...with our budget we can't afford the quality of player that can do both. Players like that are not available for the money we are prepared to spend.

We also have Connolly. The same player that fans blubber about because he is a right back and we didn't need another one...... I also don't understand why ipswich players can't be accepted of being capable of playing more than 1 position. Micky stockwell would be in trouble with this crowd

Jordan Spence on 10:45 - Nov 27 with 7501 views | Stenvict | What annoys me about Spence is how he finds it so easy to simply put the ball out for a throw in. Most full backs aim their clearance out for a throw in up towards the opposition goal, Spence will just square it out and give the opposition a throw in, in a dangerous position. This may sound a bit petty, but it just frustrates me that he's not very comfortable on the ball, which is ultimately what we want with all our players. I would play Connolly there tomorrow night.

Spence is as much a right-back as Delaney was a left-back. He's 6 foot 2 ffs

Virtually every manager he's ever played under must therefore be wrong, and you must be right.

Indeed. Spence looked good going forward last season and has generally improved defensively over that time too. Iorfa has had good spells and looked good in some games - obviously had a mare on Saturday with the two goals we conceded. Is he worth persevering with and trying to improve? At the end of the season it will depend on the deal - and whether we think he is a better long-term bet than Emmanuel. Personally, his flexibility will give him the edge, in my view.

He filled in at centre back when we had all the injuries but has otherwise always played at right back. I think he's fine, he's not infallible and has the odd bad game but is no worse than most in this division. The fact that he can also fill in at centre back should be seen as an asset not a problem surely?

technically anyone who plays a significant amount of games in the right-back position is a right-back. Carlos Edwards, Luke Chambers etc. i am talking about someone who in my opinion looks like a right-back. if it is not an opinion shared by yourself or football managers that's ok. co-incidentally a newspaper article i've just read after my first post cites David Wright as our last non-loanee specialist right-back [Post edited 27 Nov 2017 13:28]

Well we aint gonna buy another right back this season as both Spence and Connelly are right backs . not sure what Iorfa is although he was suppose to be worth 3 Mill prior to coming on loan!

he looked more comfortable at centre-back to me. indeed one of our best players. i haven't thought he was one of our best players when at right-back.

I agree he did pretty well there but, up until the last few weeks, thought he'd done well at fullback too.
