Hell of a win that - thought it was a reality disciplined performance and delighted with that.

Very brave of Mick to use Flynn Downes and Tristan Nydam to close the game down.

Skuse was brilliant in the middle and Waghorn put a hell of a shift in, you can see why he normally gets subbed off after 65-70 minutes!

Connolly seems to be seen as a midfielder now and it isn't difficult to see why, looks a quality player there and reads the game very well - deserved the goal

Exactly result this season needed really. For me despite the doom and gloom we haven't looked far away from being decent but we've been let down by leaking too many soft goals and failing to win against the better sides. On paper we had no right to win tonight but what a time to find some of the old resilience and character that has seen us defy the odds in the past. Great win, keeps us in touch and hopefully it can be a spring board to sustain a challenge for the top 6.

Well played. After a few weeks out of the side imagine the boost it'll give Downes and Nydam knowing Mick trusted them to go on and do a job to close out the game.

Apart from discipline, and the fact that we won, what distinguished it from Villa?

All the subs were exactly what we needed. Connolly, Huws and Celina were all drifting out of the game and it let Derby back on top but with the energy and bite of the three subs we managed to get a grip on the defensive side again.

We were OK with the ball at best but I couldn't care less. All in all, a very good away performance.

Agree with all of that. I still think we played some good football and tried to pass on the floor. Skuse is immense and huws is different class

I remember a positive result (draw) at Pride Park when nobody fancied us giving us a springboard for what happened in the 2014/15 season - we need to use this result again and kick on. The games are coming thick and fast and not getting easier.

The ref gave our early goal and our right back played well

Bit more to it but They were the big obvious differences. We had the rub tonight but earned it and the ref was better

Genuine question, was it the Goal-line technology that gave the goal? So unless the ref ignores his watch beeping and vibrating, he’s got to give it.
Certainly looks very hard to tell in real time from the clip going round twitter if it’s in or not.

But anyway, credit where it’s due, that’s a brilliant win, well done to all (including Mick), sounded like a real team effort.

Yep I thought that when I wrote it, ref was definitely not giving the goal and play was going on until his watch went off 5 seconds later. It is clearly in on the replays but didn't look it in real time

Villa are a better side than Derby for a start but tonight everyone worked for each other.
We had a bit of luck (or poor finishing by them) second half but a night to be proud of our team and our fans.
A perfect away performance-and result.

They said on Talksport that the goal was shown at half-time together with the goalline view - and that it had very clearly gone in from that perspective.

I don't mind technology in football that doesn't hinder the flow of the game and this is clearly the case here.

re: Joe's OP. Yes, we've needed to pull something extra out at some point, it's taken a while this season but I just hope we can build on it.
