Cheese Accompaniments 13:31 - Dec 6 with 6901 views | Deano69 | Clearly, Cheese is the food of Gods. I have seen many threads on 'ones own' personal favourite. But has there been much on what you have with it. My top favourite is virtually any mature cheddar, simply with a glass (or so ) or port. Dont really experiment beyond crackers and biscuits, with the exception of Truckle Onion Marmalade which I have on occasions. What's your preference?

Cheese Accompaniments on 13:37 - Dec 6 with 5749 views | Sarge | I had a delicious charcuterie platter in a little Parisian bistro in Montmartre with some fantastic Gouda type cheese. I wish I'd taken the name of it because it was superb. At home some nice mature cheddar or St Agur and an assortment of thin crackers and digestive biscuits. I also quite like some double Gloucester with chives. I don't partake in the chutneys, I'm not a fan. To drink: red wine, port, beer, champagne, it's all good really!

Cheese Accompaniments on 13:46 - Dec 6 with 5724 views | JoeSoap | With you on the glass of port, or a decent red wine. I do like cheese with warm crusty bread. Also got to be careful with the onion marmalades or chutneys, they should be used in moderation lest they mask the true flavour of a good cheese.

I very occasionally have an apple with cheddar. Someone mentioned to me once that Christmas cake with possibly Wensleydale was a thing? old Amsterdam is a lovely mature Gouda

Yes I'm often asked to make a tea loaf at Christmas which goes very well with Wensleydale. My mum makes old Amsterdam a staple of the Christmas cheese board, it's certainly very close to what I had in Paris.

A nice lady I used to work with brought in some of her wedding cake and a lovely cloth wrapped Wensleydale to have with it. Apparently the wedding cake was stood next to a stack of cheeses of a similar size, this being the done thing in some northern parts.

Cheese Accompaniments on 15:12 - Dec 6 with 5571 views | hoppy | I like a good extra mature or farmhouse cheddar as my go to cheese. My Nan used to like having a chunk of cheddar to accompany her liking for strawberry jam on hot buttered thick toast, and in her memory, I have often been known to have the same and enjoy it.

Sliced cheese on a hot crumpet is quite nice, some may also like Branston on there

I forgot to add, that yes, I'm with you on the port or a nice glass of red wine to accompany aforementioned toast.

Cheese Accompaniments on 22:11 - Dec 6 with 5407 views | north_stand77 | A strong Welsh Farmhouse cheddar toasted on thick super seeded bread and served in soldiers to dip in Heinze Tomato cuppa soup 😊 Or alternatively a platter including Stilton, Vintage Cheddar and Emmental with a choice of fresh figs, grapes, pears, walnuts and chutney. Served with an Aspalls Cider or Shiraz . Mmmmm. [Post edited 6 Dec 2017 22:12]
