More likely down to the millions not now counted as unemployed scraping 16 hours of minimum wage work topped up with tax credits, zero hours etc....etc. They all know this but politically are afraid to say so ! Edit.... Now read it, even Hammond isn't as "appalling" as John Mann. [Post edited 7 Dec 2017 12:01]

| And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show |

I've no idea, but there will be stats somewhere that may show whether there's a link or not (EU probably have data on this). Presumably he's sure of his position and can back up his statement.

By using the agreed upon method of measuring productivity employed by every country in the western world.

Well he says "may" have had an impact, which doesn't exactly strike me as someone who has any level of facts to back it up. You could do something really basic like compare us to someone who has higher levels of disability employment and look at their productivity vs. ours to get an idea as to whether that's actually a good reason for low productivity. For example, our productivity is lower than France but they have a better rate of employment of the disabled than we do, at least it looked that way in a quick 5 minute check that I did.

Mr Hammond is being both dishonest & disingenuous, it cam out in theparliamentary discussion last week when a tory back-bencher implored Mr Clark NOT to chnage the way in which the 'employed' are counted. Te unemployment / employment figures are fiddled they should be counting the active & inactive | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Disabled people affecting UK productivity apparently on 15:43 - Dec 7 with 2699 views | Darth_Koont | So he's either saying that adding more workers that are disabled to the workforce is lowering overall productivity ... which can't be right. Or he's saying that a workforce with proportionally more disabled people is less productive per person ... well, no sh!t! They're DISABLED. Either way, what a w@nkclown.

And possibly people being found 'fit to work' who really aren't, and forced into jobs they're not capable of doing well by a system hell bent on reducing the number of 'scroungers'.
