Nasa Kepler Exo-planets 15:43 - Dec 11 with 1233 viewsBullardsMagicMullet

Announcement on Thursday.

The clock is slowly counting down until we find life in the Universe.

NASA had previously said we will find intelligent life within 20 years.

Eventually it will be interesting to see how they can twist the religious view point.

If it's a Kepler announcement it will likely be more Earth-like planets. I don't believe it has the power to do spectrography on the light returned in order to analyse the atmosphere. The James Webb which goes up in 2019 should be able to do that though.

It's pretty much accepted life of some form exists, it's a matter of time as you say. Possibly might find a second genesis on Earth or something in our solar system before we find something extrasolar though unless they are crazy advanced.

So it looks like an AI breakthrough with regards to how they search for exoplanets.

Should be interesting.

Not that I'm religious, but if God created the universe and everything in it, then surely alien life comes under that?

I bet Bloots will downarrow this.

"He created man in his image".

Although convergent evolution may lead life down similar routes (take the dolphin and the ichthyosaur) it's highly unlikely to create something that looks exactly like man.

Doesn't really matter though, the Vatican have made huge moves in policy with regards to ET life and how it fits in nicely with their faith - they know the way things are moving scientifically. They have essentially moved to align with what you've said:
