I didn't look for long though, so it may well not be representative.

Impressive they can spare £2m to spread the word. Doesn’t sound like loose change to me.

Had anyone heard of Magical Vegas before today? (n/t) on 07:47 - Jan 12 with 5881 views | JimmyJazz | No Had anyone heard of Marcus Evans before he showed up? Strange thing is, would you replace your Marcus Evans logo with a Magical Vegas logo, as per the kind offer? I wouldn't When wearing my Town shirt, people will ask 'who is Marcus Evans' to which I really have nothing complimentary to say aside from he's our owner, which sounds very Big Brother

Milne does sometimes talk sense, amidst all the spin & b/s. Marcus Evans Group has always been a b-to-b company, not a consumer brand, so him sponsoring Town would have made poor economic sense, but was a tax efficient way of him funding Town. Getting an external sponsor in reduced his funding commitment & may be part of cleaning up Town for a sale.

Do agree with your point of the sense of him bringing in a new sponsor to therefore reduce his annual commitment. Cleaning up prior to a sale sounds like wishful thinking to me Someone obviously hired this woman to come up with a new sponsor, I would say a suitable sponsor but that would indicate that she had failed. I imagine she sees this as a feather in her cap, put it on the CV and walk away soon.

Shows how much money is lost by mug punters if this company that most haven't heard of can afford to chuck £2m at a nothing Championship club with dwindling crowds and very little national exposure. I worry about all this online gambling, how long until it is a social crisis? If it isn't already.

It's not just online gambling. The whole casino style games industry needs to have strict regulations introduced. FOBT machines are lethal.

Aye I was thinking that too especially now it seems we may actually have the best financial deal in the league! Obviously putting all their profits elsewhere and definitely not into branding and design. You have to imagine though that the market will reach saturation point with these companies soon though. Stride, whose company Magical Vegas belongs to, themselves have about 6 other identical sites. I suppose the people that use these things are constantly moving from one site to another chasing deals and so on.

"Someone obviously hired this woman to come up with a new sponsor"? She's worked at the club since 2000, but don't let that stop you forming such an opinion... Personally, I haven't seen what other companies or deals were forthcoming or on the table to compare against, so I can't make that kind of judgement.

I suppose having the numbers of gambling organisations that are now sponsoring football clubs in one way or another and, the large number of betting shops on the high street says a ot about our country's culture?

The deals need regulating as well. You'll often see something like '£200 matched deposit bonus' then the small print says 50x wagering and the likes of blackjack/roulette are weighted as 10% so if you use those it's really 500x your deposit bonus.

as if they don't have an easy enough time getting custom... Clearly even the small companies are doing great. They will presumably only get more and more greedy and cynical for business. Its up to the govt to regulate IMO.

That's true. What's more, #GlobalBritain wants to spread its values all over the world. It's all about money.

Yep, would put gambling and gaming in the same category personally - with how easy they are to bet on online. The amount of mates and people I know who have bets on Peruvian 2nd division football or some such rubbish as is the only thing on is mad. It's just something to do to kill time for a lot of people - but can't be good for you. There doesn't seem any proper exchange of goods/services because the money doesn't ever exist. If physical cash had to be paid into an online account somehow then something like that would help I'm sure.

Agree. It's a damning indictment on our society that many people's main hope of making a packet is gambling. Buy hey, unemployment is at an all time low. Right? Our government are c nuts.

I think all betting companies are based in tax havens. I'd stop that personally. If it was up to me I'd make it so I'd only give a gambling licence to a company if the taxes stayed in this country for profits made in this country, but what do I know.
