Cricket: England 116/1 needing 271 on 08:49 - Jan 19 with 3125 views | Radlett_blue | While Bayliss has come in for a lot of flak, under his reign England have become a way better one day side, largely because they stopped treating it as an extension of Test cricket.

When we had a very good test side we were pretty embarrassing in the one dayers, now the test side has gone backwards a bit and we're ripping it up with the white ball.

And, even more annoyingly, when one batsman who is set gets out, Bairstow senselessly throws away his wicket so we have 2 new batsmen in together.

Cricket: England 116/1 needing 271 on 09:17 - Jan 19 with 3095 views | SWGF | They're a very decent ODI side now. Got tickets to the Aussie ODI at the Oval in the summer plus a couple of Test days with Jnr; Saturday at Lords v Pakistan and (with due deference to Fawlty Towers) I'm taking him to see India......at the Oval.

Yes, the difference in approach is impressive compared to a few years ago. I had my Lord's e-mail this week, have tickets for Day 2 of both Tests. I already had some for India at the Oval. Always a point to make the Summer feel a bit closer.

There will be no Test cricket in England next year in all of June & July, which for me are the prime cricket watching months. Yes, they're cramming in 8 ODI's plus FOUR near senseless T20s, but it doesn't sit well with me, although I may be in a minority.

Are there any India vs Pakistan ODIs included to bring in even more money? A three-way ODI series always used to add a bit of interest. Yes, quite a long stretch with no Tests. The first Lord's Test is the last week in May and the weather then can be pretty variable. There might be a logic with trying to get audiences for the T20 stuff outside of the football season were there no World Cup.

227-6; England desperately trying to make a game of it.
